Your Class During Emergency Closures
Wesley Theological Seminary is completely equipped to hold classes during emergencies. This set of recommendations provides tools and guidance on what you can expect if portions of your course need to be moved online in the event of prolonged emergencies.
Blackboard
Blackboard is a robust Learning Management System that offers a wide variety of ways to communicate with instructors and other students.
Announcements - Announcements are shown upon entry to your course. Please be sure to log in and make sure you can see them.
Class Discussions - Instructors may set up class discussions to simulate in-person discussions. Please see instructions linked on how to navigate and participate.
Assignments
- you can submit assignments online
- your instructor may set up the SafeAssign Plagiarism Detection System
- you can see grades and feedback on assignments
Virtual Class
Blackboard Collaborate Ultra - all classes come with Blackboard Collaborate Ultra built in. This is free to use for faculty and students

Video Lectures
Your instructor may use Panopto to record videos. These will show in Blackboard or in the Panopto viewer. Once you are logged into Blackboard, you should not have to log in to see these videos. Please see instructions on watching videos here
