Renee Delgado (MA)

My time at Wesley was life-changing. My view of God became more open and relevant through interactions with professors, discussions with other students, and working through assignments. I have a deeper understanding of God and God’s work in the world. The best education was learning through the eyes of others who have different life experiences than me. Ministry happens when I honor a person’s sacred worth by acknowledging them, listening to their story, and love them in the way Jesus loves me. These values, which were reinforced at Wesley, are what drive my call to ministry with children and families, and my passion for those with mental health issues and special needs. My time at Wesley was an important part of my faith journey. Some of my thoughts and ideas around spirituality and faith were affirmed and many were challenged. I learned to wrestle with those things that were challenging and sit in the gray areas of faith without feeling uncomfortable. Most importantly, my love for God and God’s creation grew stronger and deeper during my time at Wesley.

After graduation, I plan to continue my work in children and family ministry as I work toward ordination as a deacon in The United Methodist Church.
