Alumni Gathering at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church

1100 Mt. Pisgah Drive, Midlothian, VA, 23113

We are excited to bring an alumni regional gathering to Virginia. We hope you can join us Tuesday April 26, at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church where Mike McCurry, Distinguished Professor of Public Theology  will be speaking. The topic of the lecture will be "Politics and the Pulpit, Preaching and Teaching During and Election Year." Here is a preview:

"Religion and politics are often said to be topics polite company should avoid but Mike McCurry, Wesley Seminary's Distinguished Professor of Public Theology will tackle both in this alumni gathering. At a time when our national discourse seems to reach new lows daily, how can the church respond?  Do leaders of local congregations have the tools and the spirit to lift our debates higher?  And what can Wesley Seminary do to facilitate and encourage these dialogues?  McCurry will  discuss ways local church leaders can be effective as communicators of "public theology" without transgressing proper boundaries that separate church and state."

Come for fellowship and learning, and share your ministry with others.
