Students, Faculty and Staff at Wesley
Wesley Theological Seminary students, faculty and staff receive a wide range of services in support of theological education and research, including access to our circulating collections, e-resources and interlibrary loan (ILL). Students, faculty and staff may also reserve rooms in the library for classes, study groups, or other meetings related to course work here at the seminary.
Eligibility for Services
Currently enrolled students at Wesley Theological Seminary must present a valid student ID in order to obtain, renew, or use borrowing privileges. Privileges will not be renewed for students who have outstanding fines or whose accounts are blocked by the business or registrar's offices.
Summary of Privileges
All Wesley students may borrow up to 75 items for the duration of the current semester. Students also have full on- and off-campus access to e-resources (ATLAS and other databases, e-journals, and e-books); interlibrary loan and document delivery; and borrowing privileges at American University, any school in the Washington Theological Consortium, and any library/institution that participates in the ATLA Reciprocal Borrowing Program. Wesley faculty privileges are concurrent with their faculty appointments but must be renewed on an annual basis. Current faculty must present a valid faculty ID to obtain, renew, or use borrowing privileges.

Wesley faculty may borrow up to 150 items for the duration of the current semester. Faculty also have full on- and off-campus access to e-resources (ATLAS and other databases, e-journals, and e-books); interlibrary loan and document delivery; and borrowing privileges at American University and any school in the Washington Theological Consortium. Course Reserves
The Library strives to ensure access to all required and recommended readings for all classes by holding books on the course reserve shelf for the duration of the semester in which they are assigned. To place books on course reserve or for more information about course reserves, please send an email to the library at: library@wesleyseminary.edu.
Faculty Research
The Library takes seriously its role in supporting faculty research, including the acquisition of new monographs, subscribing to new journals, and exploring new electronic resources. Please contact the Library Director to discuss ways we can support and supplement your research needs.
Eligibility for Services
Wesley staff borrowing privileges are concurrent with their time as Wesley employees but must be renewed on an annual basis. Current staff must present a valid faculty ID to obtain, renew, or use borrowing privileges.
Summary of Privileges
Wesley staff may borrow up to 25 items for a 28 day loan period. Staff also have full on- and off-campus access toe-resources (ATLAS and other databases, e-journals, and e-books); interlibrary loan and document delivery; and borrowing privileges at American University. Wesley Theological Seminary participates in the the ATLA (American Theological Library Association) Reciprocal Borrowing Program, which establishes an arrangement between participating North American ATLA Institutional Members to grant check-out privileges to each other’s students. Wesley students in degree-granting programs may go to a participating library, shows proof of current enrollment at Wesley, and checks out materials based on the library’s local lending policies.

If you wish to use a participating library, please remember:
- Show proof of current enrollment as a Wesley student.
- Lending periods are determined by each participating library.
- Privileges will typically be limited to borrowing physical materials, and possibly database access while in the library. They normally do not include remote access to other libraries' databases.
- You are responsible for adhering to local library policy and returning the materials in a timely fashion!
