Recall, Repent, Redefine
Dust Making a Decisive Difference –
Recall Who God Says You Are and
What God Says You Can Do ~
Isaiah 58:1-12
On this first day of Lent, recall who God says you are and what God says you can do.
Dust (God’s child) - created in the Image of God, shaped by God’s words, revived by God’s Spirit, affirmed by God’s love, sustained by God’s grace, and emboldened by God’s power - you are. Spirit housed in flesh sent on earth for such a time as this, you exist for God’s glory.
Repairer of the breach, Raiser of generations, restorer of streets for people to live in, recall who God says you are. Loose the bonds of injustice [wherever they exist], liberate those who are oppressed, and break every yoke (that makes oppression possible). Share your bread with those who are hungry and house those who are economically incapable of housing themselves. Cover those who are unclothed, care for families including your kinfolk, and love your neighbors as you love yourself. Stop pointing the finger and speaking of evil, God reminds us through the prophet Isaiah. Repent and believe the Gospel. Repent and believe the Good News that what is can indeed be transformed into what God says it shall be; and, that you are a part of this plan.
Dear God, we acknowledge your presence and thank you for the power to repair (fill in the blank), raise (---), restore (----), loose (----), feed (-----), house (------), clothe (------) and speak well of (----). In Jesus’ Name, we pray and ask it all.
Amen.
Reflection: What are you called to repair, to loose, and/or restore?
