Engaging Young Adults

Ministry Innovation (MI) internship is a one-year, cohort-based, paid internship for 23–29-year-old adults across the country that includes community formation, spiritual direction, graduate-level courses, and hands-on experience leading innovation. Each intern earns a $4000 stipend, travel opportunities, consulting training and experience, and four graduate academic course credits. The 2026 MI applications are open until Friday, October 17, 2025, with the new cohort beginning in January 2026.

Engaging Young Adults (EYA) helps US-based congregational teams listen deeply to the young adults in their community and design new ways to be in relationship together. Teams meet bi-weekly online for live, virtual learning and workshopping sessions, then spend time in their own communities listening, learning, and experimenting. The next cohort of EYA churches will be selected in the summer of 2026.

The Ministry Innovation Internship brings together people from a variety of backgrounds in a 1-year program that equips them to harness the power of their imaginations in the service of the Church and the world. The program begins in January with an immersion experience to help form the interns and orient them towards the frontiers of modern ministry. Throughout the Spring semester, interns take a course called "Innovative Ministry by Design," learning tools of design thinking to develop new ways to approach old problems. During the summer, interns select a cohort of churches for the Engaging Young Adults experience and journey with faith communities as they deepen relationships with the young adults closest to them. Interns earn $4000 and the associated graduate-level courses are free.

The internship is open to adults 23-29 years old who live the in continental United States and are eligible to work in the US. This opportunity is open to Wesley Theological Seminary students, Washington Theological Consortium students, and any young adults who are not currently enrolled in seminary or who have not completed graduate theological studies.

Apply for the Ministry Innovation Internship today and step further into your purpose. (Re)imagine, innovate, and lead ministry in ways that heal and positively impact our communities.
