Welcome to Wesley's Office of Residence Life!

We believe that living in community with one another on campus can provide opportunities for fellowship and application of practical theology as seminary students immerse themselves in theological education. It is our hope that living on campus will not only be a safe and comfortable experience during your studies, but that you will be able to connect with others through the many opportunities for fellowship – and in so doing, experience the love of God.

What Type of Housing is Best for Me?

Please take the quiz below to determine which of our on-campus options might best fit your needs.

  • Looks like you're interested in Local Graduate Student Housing!

Eligible applicants will be graduate students at American University, or any institution in the DC/MD/VA area. Only applicants age 21 or older will be considered, and housing is only available to students without campus housing options at their home school. All applicants must enroll in a minimum of 6 credits per fall and spring terms.

  • Looks like you're interested in Commuter Housing!

Commuter Housing is available during the fall and spring semesters for students maintaining an off-campus permanent residence, seeking to stay 1-4 nights per week on campus. Commuter residents are required to be registered for a minimum of one course at Wesley (to correspond with the requested night(s) in housing). Students of other institutions enrolled in Wesley courses are eligible for commuter housing, as are students who are not degree-seeking.

During the summer terms, commuter students seeking on campus housing will need to investigate our Summer School Housing options.

  • Looks like you're interested in Permanent Residency Housing for Single Students!

Wesley offers multiple options for single students relocating to Wesley's campus for full-time study. Permanent residents must be enrolled in a minimum of 7 credit hours each fall and spring semester to be eligible to reside on campus, and in the New Residence Hall, students must be enrolled in 4 credits during summer terms as well.

Wesley offers continuous housing, meaning we do not close our residence halls during the winter holidays, and permanent residents have the option to stay year round.

Permanent residents without families in residence have housing options in the Birch Intentional Living Community, the New Residence Hall, and in Carroll Residence Hall.

  • Looks like you're interested in Permanent Residency Housing for Married Couples!

Wesley offers two on-campus housing options for married or legally committed couples: the Birch Intentional Living Community or housing in Carroll Residence Hall. Permanent residents must be enrolled in a minimum of 7 credit hours each fall and spring semester to be eligible to reside on campus.

Wesley offers continuous housing, meaning we do not close our residence halls during the winter holidays, and permanent residents have the option to stay year round.

All families housed on campus live in Carroll Residence Hall. We offer one, two, and three bedroom apartments, depending on the size of your family. Permanent residents must be enrolled in a minimum of 7 credit hours each fall and spring semester to be eligible to reside on campus.

Wesley offers continuous housing, meaning we do not close our residence halls during the winter holidays, and permanent residents have the option to stay year round.

We are also located in a great location, and our on-campus residents typically enroll their children in the excellent local DC Public Schools.
