Satterwhite Scholars welcomes, The Honorable Rev. Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook for dinner and conversation about different models and practices of ministry.
Dr. SuJay is a presidential advisor, pastor, theologian, author, activist, and academic who served most recently as the U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom (2011 to 2013).
She has served as the senior pastor of New York City’s Mariner’s Temple and was the first (and only) woman elected to the presidency of the Hampton Minister’s Conference.
She also holds distinction of being the first African American woman to be ordained as an American Baptist (denomination) pastor.
She will come and share richly from her experiences in ministry and her unique role in shaping policies for religious freedom in the church.
