The Wesleyan Political Theology Project is a much-needed effort to explore the social repercussions of Wesley’s theology of transformational grace. The revivalistic nature of early Methodism included both an emphasis on individual salvation and corporate salvation with a message that called for the transformation of the individual, the community, and even the created order. For Wesleyans, God’s grace is really that powerful, but what does this mean for political engagement? How does a person, or community, made whole by holy love approach the great issues of the day? These and other questions are at the center of the Wesleyan Political Theology Project and you are invited to participate in the conversation.
Wesley Theological Seminary is pleased to host the Wesleyan Political Theology Project Conference in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 26-27, 2017. Historians, ethicists, theologians, and other involved in politics and government will speak on what can be gleaned from the Wesleyan heritage to inform a contemporary Wesleyan political voice. We hope you'll join us.
