Sharon H. Ringe
Professor of New Testament

Sharon Ringe is a member of Rockville United Church and an ordained minister in the UCC.  She specializes in the Gospels, feminist hermeneutics, post-colonial criticism, and Latino/a and Latin American liberation theology.

While teaching at Wesley Theological Seminary since 1991, she has also served as an adjunct professor at Universidad BĂ­blica Latinoamericana.  Prior to this time, she was a Professor of New Testament at Methodist Theological School in Ohio and Assistant Pastor at Broadway UCC in New York City.

Current project that Dr. Ringe is engaged in includes:

  • Editing the New Testament for Academia Biblica, a dissertation series of the Society for Biblical Literature Publishing
  • Mentoring with the Hispanic Theological Initiative; and
  • Developing a new course with Deborah Sokolove on "The Christmas Story in Gospels and Art".
