Rev. Dr. Steve Hundley (M.Div., 1980, D.Min. 1985) has been elected to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Methodist Insurance (UMI), the insurance company for UMC local churches, effective June 1, 2016.
In a press release from the UMI Board of Directors on the GCFA website: “Hundley, an Elder in The United Methodist Church, has most recently served as the Executive Director of Connectional Ministries in the California-Pacific Annual Conference. He has served as a District Superintendent in the Virginia Conference and as a pastor of local churches in his home conference of Virginia.
Steve has been active interpreting the financial life of the Church and has specialized in promoting generosity and connectional giving. His role with UMI will be to help churches recognize the stewardship of adequate insurance coverage that protects United Methodist properties and people.“
Dr. Nae Pearson, Minister of Music/Organist is retiring from full-time ministry on June 30. A celebration of his 40 years of music ministry will take place at Christ Congregational Church -UCC, 9525 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, Maryland, on Sunday, June 12 at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Dr. Pearson will accompany the Christ Church Choir on tour to the Czech Republic and Germany during the final weeks of June.
