Welcome,
As we continue our series of Wednesdays With Wesley, we ask how does Wesley Theological Seminary strive to live into a vision of God's Beloved Community? Tomorrow evening, Thursday, April 30 from 6:00pm to 6:45pm, Seminary faculty and staff will share on Beloved Community in a webinar you are invited to join.
Seeking to be, in Dr. King's words, "beloved community" isn't a once-and-done thing. In an academic setting, like Wesley Seminary, we welcome in 100 plus new members each August, who are to journey together. From 20 to 65 years old, women and men, a wonderful spectrum of the human race and more faith denominations than most of us could name. Sort of like real life. But, in this critical mass of "called persons" we each take our most faithful step toward reconciliation and justice - while we are also trying to accomplish the academic goal of earning a degree.
And you can be part of this grace-filled caravan!
Our prayers of gratitude for all who are "essential" during this time when some of us can only isolate, so as not to exacerbate the problems of this pandemic.
Keep Safe. Keep Learning. Keep Leading.
Chip Aldridge, Associate Dean for Admissions at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC
Wesley student serves on front line of global pandemic: We have just learned that registered nurse and first year Wesley Community Engagement Fellow Darnell Jeffers left his family in Baltimore to go to New York City to help fellow nurses at Bellevue Hospital. CBS WJZ-13 Baltimore has done a story on Darnell - you can view the video here:

Thanks to the Rev. Dr. Lorena Parrish who alerted us and is in constant contact with Darnell while there. Please keep Darnell, his family and all medical workers in your prayer.

Digital Church Is Here to Stay
Carey Nieuwhof says the post-COVID-19 world will be a different place. The move to digital worship is here to stay, he predicts. Putting it back on the shelf in the new normal would ignore the greatest opportunity the church today has to reach people. {Read More}
Continuing Easter in union:
Jonathan Fuller, MDV '19 was the first student preacher to preach as part of the Student Preacher Initiative which began in the Fall of 2018. View this “Moment of Grace” which highlights his message from Psalm 46 on stillness, and living into who God made you to be: Click here to watch.
The student preacher initiative at Wesley affords students an opportunity to integrate and practice what they are learning as a result of their studies at WTS, demonstrate their passion for ministry through preaching and worship leadership, and share their gifts with the WTS community. It also provides us another opportunity to honor the rich diversity of the Wesley community and of our worship traditions.
