Student Borrowers

The Library offers generous borrowing privileges to students at Wesley Theological Seminary. As part of our cooperative relationship with other seminaries and institutions of higher education, Wesley students can obtain borrowing privileges at a variety of other institutions.

Borrowing Privileges

Students of Wesley Theological Seminary must present a WTS student ID with current semester validation sticker in order to obtain or renew borrowing privileges. Privileges will not be renewed for students whose names are on the Business Office stop list or have outstanding Library fines. Borrowing privileges for students are valid for one semester and must be renewed at the beginning of each semester.

Books are loaned for 42 days and audio-visual materials for 7 days. Books may be renewed twice and A/V materials once, unless another borrower has requested the items. Renewed items are subject to recall.

Books may be renewed by email (library@wesleyseminary.edu) or by telephone (202-885-8695). For more information about telephone and email renewal, see User Services.

There is a 3-day grace period for books, but once the grace period is over, full fines are charged. There is no grace period for A/V materials.

Reserve Books
Materials in the Reserve Collection (located at the Circulation & Information Services Desk) are available for check out for two hours. The materials are available for overnight loan. Students may check out reserve materials two hours before the Library closes and must return them within one hour after the Library opens the next day.

Restrictions/Obligations
Library materials cannot be checked out without a current library card, and only the owner of the card may use it. Because the cardholder is responsible for all fines and fees, materials borrowed from the Library should not be loaned to another person.
