Student Borrowers

The Library offers generous borrowing privileges to students at Wesley Theological Seminary. As part of our cooperative relationship with other seminaries and institutions of higher education, Wesley students can obtain borrowing privileges at a variety of other institutions.

Borrowing Privileges
Students of Wesley Theological Seminary must present a WTS student ID with current semester validation sticker in order to obtain or renew borrowing privileges. Privileges will not be renewed for students whose names are on the Business Office stop list or have outstanding Library fines. Borrowing privileges for students are valid through the semester in which the student applies for and/or renews Library borrowing privileges.  (For the fall semester, privileges extend through the J-Term.)

Books (including D. Min. project theses) are loaned for a semester and audio-visual (A/V) materials for 14 days. Library items are not eligible for renewals by any student patrons other than WTS Doctor of Ministry students. Items may not be returned and immediately checked back out; items are not available for check out until they have been returned to the shelves (usually one business day after they are returned). Books are subject to recall for another patron after 4 weeks, although items may be recalled at any time if requested by faculty for Course Reserves.

There is a 3-day grace period for returning books, but once the grace period is over, full fines are charged retroactively. There is no grace period for returning A/V materials.

Reserve Books
Materials in the Reserve Collection (located at the Circulation & Information Services Desk) are available for check out for two hours. The materials are available for overnight loan. Students may check out reserve materials two hours before the Library closes and must return them within one hour after the Library opens the next day.

Restrictions/Obligations
Library materials cannot be checked out without a current library card, and only the owner of the card may use it. Because the cardholder is responsible for all fines and fees, materials borrowed from the Library should not be loaned to another person.
