Students without families joining them in residence at Wesley Theological Seminary are housed in our New Residence Hall or our Intentional Living Community, Birch Residence Hall.
The New Residence Hall opened August 17, 2013 and offers a total of 76 beds in both single and double occupancy configurations. Rooms are arranged in suites with single occupancy dormitory rooms sharing bathrooms (two people sharing) or double occupancy dormitory rooms sharing bathrooms (four people sharing). Rooms are carpeted, furnished, and come with window blinds. Furnishings include: an extra long twin bed with underbed drawer located at the foot, desk with hutch, bulletin board and lamp, rolling task chair, night table, and armoire with adjustable rods. All NRH residents must purchase the meal plan for the Seminary dining room.
Each of the four floors of the NRH offers a spacious community kitchen and lounge with large screen TV and cable. The building also hosts another several study rooms (group and quiet), a conference room, prayer room, vending room and music room. There are two laundry rooms in the building (card operated with value-adding machines located in each). There is a small storage room where residents may be assigned a storage shelf and an indoor bike storage room.
All utilities and wireless internet are included. On-campus parking is available to residents (you may pick up your parking permit in the Business Office).
Birch Residence Hall opened in the Fall of 2009 and is located at 908 Massachusetts Ave, NW in downtown DC. The Intentional Living Community is located in a high-rise office building and offers students the opportunity to delve deeper in community with one another and reach out in service to their Chinatown neighbors.
There are a total of 17 beds in Birch Residence Hall. 12 beds are configured in single and double dormitory rooms. Each of these four suites has a double occupancy dormitory room connected to a single occupancy dormitory room through the bathroom (three people sharing). Additionally, there are three unique apartments, including an efficiency and two open-floor plan one-bedroom units which can fit two people each.
The Intentional Community offers a study room, laundry room, one large living space and kitchen for all residents to gather. The three apartment spaces also offer private kitchens. All units are carpeted, furnished, and come with privacy window shades. Furnishings for dormitory rooms include: a twin sized bed, night table, built in desk-space, small bookshelf, and armoire. Furnishings for apartments include: beds (twin sized beds for one or two single occupants, or a double bed for married students), night table, desk and chair, armoire, small table and chairs. Birch Residents are not required to purchase the Seminary meal plan, but may purchase meal tickets to use while on campus.
