Urban Ministry Specialization

Any masters-level student at Wesley is able to take urban ministry classes. For Master of Divinity and Master of Arts students seeking advanced skills in the practice of urban ministry, Wesley offers a specialization that includes urban-focused field placements and coursework.

Field Placements

The Practice in Ministry and Mission Office works with urban ministry students to secure placement in a setting that offers engagement in social justice and theology in the public sphere.

All field placement settings include mentoring, spiritual formation and missional service along with the classroom learning and peer colloquy experience you will gain at the seminary.

Field placements for students previously included community-focused churches in urban and suburban neighborhoods, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and denominational institutions.
