About Urban Ministry

What sets Urban Ministry at Wesley apart from other institutions is the ability for students to engage in transformative learning while participating in the transformation of communities. The vision for our work is based on a goal to eliminate or C.U.R.E. (Creating Urban Renewal that’s Excellent) social problems plaguing metropolitan environments. The Urban Ministry program takes seriously the model of Jesus in seeking to move individuals and communities toward wholeness by innovating, integrating and initiating effective ministries.

Masters-level students at Wesley are able to take urban ministry courses, earn a specialization in urban ministry, or participate in the Urban Fellows Program.  The specialization and fellow programs prepare students to become world-class leaders in ministry and community.

Wesley also offers a Doctor of Ministry degree specializing in urban ministry.

All urban ministry courses are taught at the Wesley Downtown location at 900 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
