Come celebrate Dean Bruce C. Birch's 38 years of teaching and service in the Wesley community!

Tuesday April 14, 2009

The day will begin at Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church with a symposium of Old Testament scholars discussing the role of the Hebrew Scriptures in the life of the church. Dr. Walter Brueggemann, Dr. Katharine Doob Sakenfeld, Dr. Terence Fretheim, and Dr. David Petersen will be presenting their thoughts on how the Old Testament shapes the life of the Christian community. Bruce Birch will moderate the symposium. 

Following the symposium, a luncheon in honor of Dean Birch will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, just a short walk from Mount Vernon Place. The cost of the luncheon is $15.00 per person and space is limited so please RSVP right away to secure your spot!

The day will continue with a celebratory chapel service and reception at Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church.
