Seeing God, A Juried Art Exhibition - Now through December 15
The Dadian Gallery will host Seeing God, a nationally juried exhibition of fine prints. The Dadian Gallery, along with the Washington Printmakers Gallery, has invited printmakers to consider what it means to see God. The results of this invitation are an exhibition of the ways contemporary artists of varying religious backgrounds envision the sacred in their work. For more information, call (202) 885-8630.
Weekly Worship Services - Tuesdays and Wednesdays
If you are in Washington, D.C. on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, we warmly invite you to worship with us at Wesley. During the academic year, we hold a weekly worship services on campus in Oxnam Memorial Chapel on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. Upcoming services include:

The Rev. Mike Feely, M.Div. '91, is the pastor of Brainerd United Methodist Church and the St. Andrew's Center in downtown Chattanooga, Tenn. The St. Andrew's Center celebrated its second anniversary this November. The center offers programs in adult education (GED, SAC, ESOL and other literacy programs). The center will also house the new offices of the Holston Methodist Federal Credit Union. HMFCU will seek to serve their established customer base in Chattanooga but will also provide financial education courses to the adjacent community. St. Andrew's Center also houses a free pediatric clinic which serves the adjacent community. Dimensions for Living (an imprint of Abingdon Press) has published Abide With Me by the Rev. Carlee Hallman, M.Div. '84. Hallman is retired from appointment within the United Methodist system but still provides monthly worship at a local nursing home assisted by members of Bethesda United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chester W. Kirk, M.Div. '65, passed away November 4, 2006. A memorial service celebrating Kirk's life will be held at Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2. Kirk was the husband of Edith and a loving father and grandfather to Colin, Chandler and Brendan. He is survived by his brother and sister. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made in Kirk's name to Stephen Ministries at any of the following churches: Chevy Chase United Methodist, St. Paul's Kensington United Methodist and Oakdale Emory United Methodist. A memorial service will be held on December 3 at Oxnam Chapel on Wesley's campus to celebrate the life of Maxwell Lawton, MTS '96. Memorial donations may be made to the Wesley Theological Seminary in the name of Wesley Maxwell Lawton. An endowed fund has been created in Maxwell's name which will benefit students and artists affiliated with the Luce Center for Arts and Religion. The Rev. Dr. Blaine L. Miller, Jr., M.Div. '69, passed away on July 31 at the age of 78. Miller was ordained in the Methodist Church in June 1969, but was granted ministerial standing in the United Church of Christ. He served the Susquehanna Charge of the Penn. Central Conference until 1993 upon his retirement. After retirement, he remained active in ministry through his service as interim pastorate throughout the conference. He is survived by his wife, Barbara. He served several UM churches in Central Penn. before transferring to the United Church of Christ. He is also survived by four sisters and his three sons Steven, Robert and Jon, and 5 grandchildren. His daughter-in-law, the Rev. Sharon K. Miller, M. Div. '03, is serving at Lewisberry UMC in Central PA Conference.
New Immersion Opportunities
Have you ever wanted to travel to Spain? Join Catherine Kapikian and Art Thomas May 10-22, 2007 on a Wesley immersion, Spain: Its Culture, Spirituality and Art. The deadline for initial registration down payment of $400 to GTA Tours is due December 15, 2006. Travel to South Korea. The immersion trip to South Korea will highlight cultural, social and political facets allowing participants a deeper understanding of an ancient and powerful country. The itinerary includes visits to Kwanglim Methodist Church, the largest Methodist Church in the world. Also, participants will have the opportunity to speak with Korean-Christian politicians during their visit to the National Assembly. Explore Korea's rich cultural history and traditions during visits to a Korean folk village, shopping in traditional markets, and visits to Jeoldusan (Martyr's Shrine) and Kanghwado SeongGonHoe Songdang, a beautiful Anglican church built to resemble a Buddhist temple. Another highlight is Korea's Demilitarized Zone. Korean immersion participants will experience firsthand the continuing effects of the Cold War and the repercussions it has today. The cost of the trip is approximately $ 2,500 including airfare, accommodations and extraneous expenses. The Korean immersion is scheduled for May 21 - June 2, 2007. Visit India. Join this immersion trip to India, Christian Faith Encountering Diverse India: Living World Religions, Resourceful Poor Communities and Historic Ecumenical Churches, on August 2 - 18, 2007. The Rev. Dr. Sathianathan Clarke, Wesley's professor of Theology, Culture and Mission and leader of this immersion trip, is an ordained Minister of the Church of South India, contextual theologian, social activist, ecumenical leader and comparative religionist. This pilgrimage will start in Chennai, which will include an orientation to cultural and theological themes, participation in Christian ministry to the poor and oppressed communities and guided visits to Hindu sites of worship. Next, participants will travel to Kerala to spend five days with Syrian Orthodox and Mar Thoma communities. The trip concludes with four days in Bangalore in an ecumenical setting, where participants will learn about missions in the context of contextualization, globalization and the Dalit, Feminist and Tribal movements. The trip will cost approximately $3,200 including airfare, internal train travel, food, lodging, lectures and site visits, but not visa, health insurance and travel insurance.
