Wesley Theological Seminary invites applications and nominations for the position of Academic Dean.
Wesley Theological Seminary is a graduate theological school of The United Methodist Church located in Washington, DC. It is one of the largest and most diverse seminaries in the world. During the academic year, more than 1,500 students attend classes at Wesley. Degree programs include Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Theological Studies and Doctor of Ministry. Almost 60 percent of the students are Methodist; the remaining 40 percent represent more than 25 different denominations. Forty-four percent of the students are African American, Hispanic, Asian or other ethnic minority. Wesley's faculty includes 30 full-time faculty members and 25 adjunct faculty members.
The Dean is the Chief Academic Officer and responsible directly to the President. The Dean's responsibilities include policy, program, personnel development and fiscal management for the faculty and academic programs. The Dean is expected to provide vision and leadership in strategic planning and promote excellence in teaching and scholarship.
The best candidates for the position will possess an earned doctorate in a field of theological education and have a distinguished record of graduate teaching, scholarship, and active participation in the life of the church. The Hispanic Ministry at the Central Union Mission, located in NW Washington, is seeking volunteers to tutor or to teach an ESOL class for Hispanic immigrants. General Description: Program for Women's Ministries of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA (NCC) includes: the work of the NCC Justice for Women Working Group, Young Women's Leadership Opportunities and Women's Leadership Development. The Justice for Women Working Group currently has four primary focus areas: Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, Language - Inclusive and Expansive, and Poverty. Young Women's Leadership Experience involves connecting women ages 18 to 30 years old with ongoing opportunities in the ecumenical movement. Women's Leadership Development includes networking women within the ecumenical movement and society to further their leadership skill and opportunities. The NCC Program for Women's Ministries also includes maintenance of historical records of women's involvement in the ecumenical movement within the USA as well as addressing current issues of injustice related to gender within the ecumenical movement and society at large. In recent years as many NCC member communions have decrease staff and budgets the intentional work on gender justice has suffered. The ability to accurately record history, track trends, provide resources and network women has become increasingly important to do in ecumenical partnership for the wise use of funds and human resources. This internship will assist with several critical projects to enhance communication elements of the ongoing work of the NCC Program for Women's Ministries.
Specific Tasks: Following the instructions and guidance provided by NCC staff, this intern will work on the following projects:
Assist in analyzing data and formulating a report on the "Faith and Feminism" workbook focus group project, including updating website with quotes and stories.
Assist in updating NCC webpage and resource information on Women's History Month.
Assist in organizing, documenting and archiving past NCC Women's Ministry files so that essential data can be accessed for use in communicating the story of women's leadership in the ecumenical movement in the USA.

Position Requirements
As an internship position requires applicant for this position to be graduate student in theology, social work, public policy, gender, or communication field and hold a BA or BS degree. The position can be used in fulfillment of practical experience credit with prior consent of the Program Director for Women's Ministries of the NCC. Ordinarily this position will require presence in the NCC office approximately 6 to 10 hours per week from February to mid-June with the possibility of increasing hours to full time from mid-June through beginning of August.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This intern position is created to assist in the continued development of the ecumenical Health Task Force which serves as the primary point of focus for the NCC's health care advocacy. The Health Task Force, with more than one third of the member communions as well as specialized ecumenical health related groups has been in place for over three years. The Task Force relates to a NCC Health Network comprised primarily of congregations of member communions that are concerned with some aspect of health education, direct service or policy advocacy. To address the interests and concerns of the Network the Health Task Force has developed three foci including; Network development and capacity building, Health Care Policy Reform, and Emergency Preparedness.
This internship works in close collaboration with staff colleagues, consultants and constituent members of the Health Task Force in serving to develop the Health Network and Website. Member communions and state and local councils of churches are primary contacts for developing the Network. The website serves as a primary education and communications tool for the Network. (The website is maintained off site and is not the responsibility of this position. Co-ordination with the web master re: content is however an important priority for this position.)

Health Intern- Policy Reform Research with the NATIONAL COUNCIL OF CHURCHES, USA
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Health Task Force of the NCC includes among its three foci responsibility to give leadership to the NCC's efforts related to health care policy reform. While both the NCC and many of its member communions have long standing policy positions related to health care these policies are neither current nor in total accord with one another. This internship is being initiated in order to provide support to the Health Task Force, its staff and consultants in formulating an ecumenical response to contemporary efforts in the area of national health care policy.
While recent years have seen the deterioration of the effectiveness America's health care policy with growing numbers of persons lacking health care insurance and similar growth in the disparity of health care quality and affordability. With the economic downturn and expected increases in unemployment the near future projections are for a worsening of the effectiveness of health care policy in the United States. Several states are presently experimenting with various forms of universal health care and important commitments have been made by national leaders to take up the wholesale reform of health policy. The NCC and its member communions, long advocates for universal health care will increasingly be called upon to provide education and leadership in the advocacy of this policy reform. This internship will play a crucial role in enabling the development of a viable and effective approach to this important social justice matter.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides support for a 5-8 hour per week position which will enable to incumbent to:
Analyze the NCC policy provisions in relation to the policy stances of its member communions, the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and other religious bodies
Prepare summary reports of this analysis for the NCC Health Task Force
Keep current on pending legislation and provide analysis on the degree to which such legislation would address the standards of NCC policy in reports to the NCC Health Task Force
Regularly prepare updates on the various health care coalitions working for policy reform in relation to NCC policy stances and advocacy efforts
Suggest talking points, educational and/or advocacy strategies which may grow out of the policy research on health care
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate for this internship will be a graduate student engaged in an area of study such as ethics, public health administration, government or a related field. Strong evidence of a sophisticated knowledge of health policy and strong writing skills are imperative. The intern should be familiar with the advocacy history of the churches and their exercise of moral authority on behalf of the common good. This intern should have the ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner. The location and time commitment of this position are negotiable.
ORGANIZATIONAL FIT: This position reports to the Senior Program Director for Education and Leadership Ministries and provides reports to the Health Task Force, its staff and consultants. College Chaplain at Keuka College in New York
Keuka College invites applications for the position of College Chaplain, to begin in January, 2009, or soon thereafter. Keuka College is a private residential college of 928 traditional undergraduate students and approximately 600 adult-degree and graduate students. The College is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York on the shores of Keuka Lake, about a one-hour drive from Rochester and Syracuse. This is a full-time, 12-month, administrative appointment.
The College Chaplain is responsible for the administration of the Chaplain's Office and for the day-to-day operations of the Center for Spiritual Life. The Chaplain will develop and oversee a wide range of programs and activities which meet the spiritual needs of students, faculty, and staff. In the midst of a diverse, multi-faith people, the Chaplain seeks to provide possibilities for spiritual growth, peace-making, social justice, interfaith dialogue, leadership development, and personal growth for both the individual and the community.
