Catherine Kapikian is an acclaimed and commissioned artist. Her work, inclusive of paraments, vestments, banners, tapestries, and fiber with wood installations can be seen in a variety of worship spaces inclusive of every major Christian denomination, interfaith military chapels, and synagogues. Many of her large-format works, like needlepoint tapestries behind altars, are designed by her and fabricated by members of the community in what she calls “participatory aesthetics.” In this manner, the installation becomes the work of the people.
Catherine teaches, gives lectures and workshops nationwide, supervises resident artists at the Center, collaborates in the choice of artists represented in the Center's Gallery, and writes and publishes articles in the field of art and theology.
