Sharon H. Ringe

Sharon Ringe is a member of Rockville United Church and an ordained minister in the UCC.  She specializes in the Gospels, feminist hermeneutics, post-colonial criticism, and Latino/a and Latin American liberation theology.

While teaching at Wesley Theological Seminary since 1991, she has also served as an adjunct professor at Universidad Bíblica Latinoamericana.  Prior to this time, she was a Professor of New Testament at Methodist Theological School in Ohio and Assistant Pastor at Broadway UCC in New York City.

Current project that Dr. Ringe is engaged in include:

  • Editing the New Testament for Academia Biblica, a dissertation series of the Society for Biblical Literature Publishing
  • Mentoring with the Hispanic Theological Initiative; and
  • Developing a new course with Deborah Sokolove on "The Christmas Story in Gospels and Art".
