At Commencement each year, the Society of John Wesley Award of Merit is given to Wesley graduates who exemplify a high standard of commitment and devotion to God, to the church and to Wesley Theological Seminary. Through sacrificial leadership in ministry, these persons exemplify a high standard of involvement in the ministry and mission of the church and in the life of the Wesley community. Nominations are now open for 2012.

In this increasingly postmodern culture, preparing Christian leaders for service to the world demands new ways of thinking about theological education. Graduate education at Wesley retains the traditional requirements of Bible, Christian history, and theology courses, but Wesley also seeks to creatively equip today’s technologically-adept and service-oriented students who are called to change the world.

Politics and religion: these topics may be known colloquially as subjects to avoid during polite conversation, but at Wesley they are known as the subjects of choice for the National Capital Semester for Seminarians (NCSS) class.

For the past two years, Wesley Theological Seminary has opened our doors to the Washington community every second Monday to take part in discussions on a variety of theological topics. With guests ranging from Congressman Ed Whitfield and CNBC Correspondent John Harwood to noted preacher Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, our monthly “Second Mondays” programs have become a gathering point for our friends in Washington outside of the on-campus Wesley community.
