Wesley Theological Seminary has been selected to host an exhibition of Chinese Bibles and historical artifacts chronicling the re-emergence and growth of Christianity in China. This exhibition will be on view in only four American cities, beginning in Washington, D.C.
President David McAllister-Wilson said about the exhibition, “Wesley, which has strong relationships with many Christian churches and theological schools throughout Asia, is honored to host this exhibition in the nation’s capital. It will be an important event for Christian communities in both the United States and China and help develop relations between the two countries.”
The exhibition will be shown at Wesley @ Mt. Vernon Square, Wesley’s new downtown theological center at 908 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. The exhibition will open September 28 and continue through October 2, 2011. Two seminars that focus on church life in China and theological education in China will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. respectively.
This exhibition has been organized by the China Christian Council and the National Committee of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches in China. As described by the exhibition organizers, “The main purpose of the Bible exhibition is to bear witness to how Chinese Christians love God’s Word, how the good news in the Bible has been spread in China, and how Christ's body has been built up under the consistent guidance of the Word. Museum-quality interpretive panels, historical Bibles, and other items will illustrate the history of Christianity in China. The exhibition is not only a testimony of the Chinese Christians’ daily life and spiritual life, but also a connection between the Christians of China and the United States by which mutual understanding is deepened and friendship and fellowship in Jesus Christ strengthened.”
