Special Users & Visitors

The Library is pleased to extend borrowing privileges to qualified individuals from American University and the Washington Theological Consortium as well as to local clergy and other special researchers.

 

Local Clergy

Local Clergy (both United Methodist Church and non-UMC clergy) are eligible for borrowing privileges at no charge. Appropriate identification is required to apply for borrowing privileges. Borrowing privileges are valid for one calendar year and must be renewed annually. Borrowers should not discard expired cards. There is a $5.00 replacement fee for lost or discarded cards.

 

Washington Theological Consortium Faculty and Students

Currently enrolled students and and faculty of member institutions in the Washington Theological Consortium may obtain free borrowing privileges by presenting current and validated identification from his/her own school and a completed Washington Theological Consortium Borrowing Privileges form signed by their institution's library. Privileges are valid for one semester and must be renewed at the beginning of each semester.

 

American University Faculty, Students, and Staff
Faculty, students, and staff at American University may obtain free borrowing privileges by presenting current and validated AU identification in person at the Wesley Library. Privileges are valid for one semester and must be renewed at the beginning of each semester.

 

Special Researchers 
Qualified researchers may apply for a special borrower's card. Applications must be approved by the Library Director and privileges may be subject to an annual fee of $50.  Contact the Library by telephone (202-885-8695) or email (library@wesleyseminary.edu) for more information.

 

Loan Period/Renewal/Grace Periods

Books are loaned for 28 days and audio-visual materials for 7 days.

 

Books may be renewed by email (library@wesleyseminary.edu) or by telephone (202-885-8695). For more information about telephone and email renewal, see User Services. Books may be renewed twice and A/V materials once, unless another borrower has requested the items. Renewed items are subject to recall.

 

There is a 3-day grace period for books, but once the grace period is over, full fines are charged. There is no grace period for A/V materials.
