Beginning Fall 2013, Wesley Theological Seminary will offer housing in four residence halls located at two different addresses in Washington, DC. Read more below about each of the four on-campus options.
As yet unnamed, the new residence hall (NRH) will open Fall 2013 and offer housing to permanent resident master's-level candidates for fall, spring and summer semesters. The building will be four stories tall and offer a total of 76 beds, including four unique rooms, 24 single occupancy dormitory rooms and 24 double occupancy dormitory rooms. Restroom facilities in the NRH will be suite-style, configured such that two singles or two doubles will share facilities. See below for a full list of community areas available in the building. Carroll Residence Hall is located at 4500 Massachusetts Ave, NW and houses the majority of married campus residents as well as all campus families with children during fall, spring and summer terms. The building is four levels and offers a total of 43 units. Efficiency, One-, Two- and Three-bedroom apartments are available. All units include private bathrooms (bathtub/shower, toilet and sink) and kitchens (refrigerator with freezer, sink, garbage disposal, four-coil electric cooking range). The building is not equipped with an elevator. Each unit has at least one air conditioning unit and offers central heat.
Birch Residence Hall Intentional Community (MVS) is located at 908 Massachusetts Ave NW in the office building next to Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church (900 Massachusetts Ave NW). The Residence Hall is located on the third level of the building and is accessible only via keycard entry. Residents will access the space via the atrium entrance facing Massachusetts Avenue and the stairwell. Special arrangements may be made for residents to utilize the elevator if they are unable to utilize the stairs or during move-in or move-out. MVS offers 18 beds, configured in the following ways: one efficiency apartment, two one-bedroom apartments, double or single dormitory rooms. Dormitory rooms are configured in 'triplets' which consist of one double occupancy dormitory room connected through the restroom to one single occupancy dormitory room. Apartment units offer private bathrooms (shower stall, sink, toilet) and kitchens (refrigerator with freezer, sink, garbage disposal, four-coil electric cooking range and microwave). Additionally, there is a large community lounge, kitchen area, study room and laundry room available for student use.
Beginning Fall 2013, Straughn Dormitory will be used to house commuter residents and non-Wesley permanent residents for fall and spring semesters. Straughn will offer a total of 49 dormitory units which will be used for either single permanent resident housing or single/double commuter housing. The dormitory offers one full community kitchen (commercial refrigerator, deep freezer, four coil electric range, microwave, toaster over, sink/disposal), one half community kitchen (commercial refrigerator, deep freezer, microwave, toaster oven, sink/disposal), a community television lounge, prayer room, study room, exercise/recreation area, laundry room, two lobbies, and computer lounge. During the summer of 2013, an elevator will be installed in Straughn to make all levels of the building accessible to students or visitors with mobility challenges.
