Certificate in Christian Studies

In January 2012, Wesley began an innovative program for laity to enroll in non-credit courses in biblical studies, church history, theology and practical ministry. Students who complete six (6) courses may receive a "Certificate in Christian Studies" from Wesley Theological Seminary. We welcome all interested participants who desire theological enrichment and being equipped for a particular ministry to register for this program.

Course sessions will be held at Wesley's main campus, 4500 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC on weekends. Each weekend session is held from 1pm - 9pm on Friday and 9am - 1pm on Saturday with breaks. Each course is comprised of two weekend sessions scheduled approximately one month apart and are taken concurrently with the Course of Study Weekend Program.

Please note: Courses in the Certificate Program will not earn graduate-level credit and cannot be transferred to a Wesley degree program.

Housing

Wesley uses the Chevy Chase Courtyard Marriott located about 2 miles for the seminary for housing during the weekend sessions. Please indicate if you will need housing on the registration form. We will make a reservation for you based on the information we receive on the registration form. You will receive a hotel reservation confirmation number from Wesley about one week prior to the course. Public transportation is available from the hotel via metro and AU shuttle or Metro bus which drops you right in front of the seminary. You will find directions to the hotel here. You will be required to pay for your room directly to the hotel.

Limited housing is also available on campus for the Weekend Course of Study program. Students are responsible for making these arrangements directly with the housing office. To request on campus housing, please complete the Guest Housing form. You may also opt to stay in one of the many area hotels; download a listed of suggested hotels here.

Finances

Registration fee is $75.00 per course
Tuition Rate: $350.00 per course
A Cancellation fee $50 is assessed if courses is cancelled within two weeks of the start of class or for no shows. Cancellations must be received in writing - send to Sara Sheppard.
